Testimonials

To get an insight into Nuala and Don’s work, you can read some testimonials from clients who have experienced a range of their services and wanted to share their story:

What Nuala White does with exceptional precision, passion & purpose is ask the tough questions, the ones you may have been avoiding! This causes you to take a hard look at what is in front of you, how you present yourself and how effective you are at achieving what you want. Nuala White helps you consider perceived failures and use them for positive growth. For me she was able to show me how the ‘written me’ on my CV did not match the ‘written me of my writing’ or the ‘physical me’ standing in front of her. She asked me questions and gave plenty to consider than enabled and empowered me to make the necessary changes to succeed and thrive. Without doubt I not only recommend Nuala White, I HIGHLY recommend her. Her expertise and empathetic and compassionate use of her skills allowed me to open up a new world of possibilities.

Before coming to see Nuala White about fastereft, I felt miserable about my general health and well-being. Every day I worried about my health from every lump and bump that I had on my body, all I could think of was that is was something sinister eg cancer. It got me down so much that it took over my life and all of my thinking. Since having the fastereft tapping session with Nuala, she did only what I can describe as some sort of miracle. The tapping made me realise what I was really feeling deep down inside and that I had forgotten all the great amazing things in my life. During the session the things she made me see were past things in my life like my dog and other things I currently had, which made me laugh and smile and forget about the worries and pain I previously experienced. From having a previous cancer scare i had to undergo an operation to remove cells and I was fine afterwards. This gave me a fright and I worried constantly about it since. The fastereft tapping session helped me immensely and now I rarely think the worst and I don’t feel bad about my health any longer.

Letter to BBC –
Also in terms of psychologists / counsellors to work with young people / families for your programme. May I recommend a woman called Nuala White – she is highly qualified and experienced but has two things that make her very effective with solutions for teens. One is that she knows about and understands the possible disability side of things (so many young people having difficulities have undiagnosed disabilities) and two, she has a fantastic new tool (more common in suicide prevention in USA) that is proven to work and does not require teens (or parents) to talk a lot to cope, let go and manage. Its called Faster EFT and she is a trainedpractitioner. We recently won funding to work with her to make a You Tube video to make the skill accessible to teens. (Feb / Mar) Its like acupuncture, but for emotions – and it just involves tapping with a finger on certain points to release and let go. It may sound a bit strange – but I know that it works and its perfect for teens who so often have not got the skills, to talk /communicate when they are angry or down. They can take ownership of a solution. Nuala has a broad range of skills and is a brilliant counsellor also. She could help make a big positive impact – the skill is easy to learn and you dont have to believe in the ‘how it works’ for it to work.

We know from experience that many families / young people need quicker fixes and things they can use themselves when there is no professional available / long waiting lists, / teens who wont attend, to them and will work no matter what the issue – thankfully now this has developed in NI and we are working to make it available to teens.

I have cc’ed Nuala into this so you can get in touch with her if you wish.

About a year ago my activities were considerably curtailed for six months or so as a result of a “silly” fall. I am in my eighties and was told that it was probably caused by the loss of sense of balance as one gets older. I wasn’t prepared to accept such a defeatist attitude and signed up with Don White for a course of Alexander Technique instruction. It is taking many months to alter the postural habits of a lifetime but I am beginning to enjoy more control than I have ever had over my freedom of movement and comfortable balance. The teaching has also made me aware of the neatest and easiest way of carrying out all the everyday movements of life such as sitting, standing, walking or lifting. In answer to the question “What can you expect at your age?” I would say that by studying the Alexander Technique I can expect to feel wonderful, better than ever before in my life. I only wish I had had that salutory fall seventy years ago.

I would like to add that I’ve been blessed, wherever I’ve been, by exceptional Alexander teachers coming into my life. Here in Belfast, Don White in Holywood, knew what was wrong and how I needed to direct my energies and inhibit my body’s desire to compensate for the pain, and survive until surgery, when the National Health Service was still making diagnostic mistakes. His interventions came in month 10, just as I had given up on the NHS, invoked my private BUPA insurance, and finally gotten the correct MRI and an accurate diagnosis by a talented and innovative private consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Jonathan Bunn, who knew about and deeply respected the Alexander Technique. Several times Mr Bunn has attributed my pre-operative grit and post-operative success to Alexander training, along with dance, trekking, a dynamite physiotherapist Jeff Blair (Alphaphysio), and my personal trainer Kirsty at David Lloyd’s, all here in Belfast, Nothern Ireland. But without Alexander, which my surgeon said his own mentor at Queen’s Unversity Belfast’s Medical School “found was the only thing that helped him ease and transform chronic back pain,” I might not have found the will, stamina, or faith to fight through to a diagnosis, live through a year of ever-increasing pain with life-force and energy to spare, or re-build as fast as I have done following Total Hip Replacement surgery on 30th January 2013. God bless all who’ve contributed their expertise to this miracle, and god(s) bless all who study and teach Alexander Technique throughout the world. Un otrá vece, Graçias à la Vida. And now jo quiero pregunta à un amigo to translate estas qué jo éscriban aquí en Éspañol!

I really appreciated you took the time to let me experience the tapping work you do.

The tapping experience for me has made me believe more in myself. I have gained confidence and been able to see that there are some things that no matter how hard I work will not turn out the way I intended. During the experience I did feel a massive amount of release and although I felt very emotional, it was a positive experience for me. I’m unsure why I felt so emotional at that time. For a while afterwards when I was worried or feeling stressed I would tap myself and repeat the encouraging statements you had me repeating during the experience. This helped me cope with the stress I was experiencing at the time.

I feel much more confident in my role and although I’m still learning every day I’m not hiding behind the “ I’m just new to this role”. I feel after this experience I turned a corner, a bright new corner, where I believed in myself and that, in fact, I have the ability to carry out his role effectively. I am able to speak out more in large groups, although this still needs a bit of work!! (Childrens Home Manager a 20 minute session.)

I first heard of this technique from a horse riding magazine, which ran several articles on the subject, detailing how better balance and posture could improve one’s position on a horse. Being a keen and regular rider, this seemed particularly relevant, and having a bad back (as with most riders!), this led me to booking a series of lessons.
The simplistic description of what the Alexander Technique seeks to achieve belies the fact that so much is involved, once one gets started! The first lesson involved lying down and sitting up. Not difficult? Neither is the Technique, but it requires much thought to apply the process, and if benefit is to be gained, practised in between each lesson. I found myself, even after two lessons, applying the Technique at home, standing, sitting, moving, in the car – and of course, on horseback! It was a revelation, becoming so aware of one’s position, and realising that what we perceive as being fact is in fact not so at all – and thus the process begins, of effecting change for the better!
Apart from becoming a more balanced rider, another unexpected benefit arose last week. During a heated discussion at the desk between two angry people, I intervened, but not before remembering my directions “let the neck the free…….” Etc. The effect was dramatic. My posture changed from cowed and insignificant, to authoritative and confident – it was actually remarked upon by colleagues after the altercation, which was calmly and successfully settled.
Alexander Technique – it’s just about sitting up straight isn’t it?
Not a bit of it! I’ve learnt more about myself in the last month than I would have thought possible (even the backache’s gone!) and would recommend it to anyone who has a desire for self improvement.
Many thanks to Don White for his patience and clear explanations and his wonderful sense of humour – thank you!
